How we got started

Scott Richards began working in the health insurance industry in 2016 starting as a consultant at Professional Group Plans, a general insurance agency in NY. His day-to-day responsibilities included supporting countless brokers with their clients’ needs, from plan design to quoting, to implementation and management of benefit plans, for groups ranging from 2 to 5000 employees across all industries.

From there, he moved into a benefits advisory role and eventually formed Hilltop Strategies. Because he began working closely with Human Resource managers, he decided to also obtain his certification in HR, and is now a SHRM-CP. Scott has endeavored to build a business that will forever foster a close relationship between himself and his clients. With employer needs always as his focus, he is constantly looking for ways to help improve your bottom line, improve the health and well being of your employees, and protect you from compliance shortfalls.

We do not operate as a transactional business. Our clients come to us because we take the time to learn about their businesses and their needs. We identify simple adjustments to their plan designs that lower cost and increase utility to all involved.

We take an active role with our clients, getting in front of employee issues before they create problems for management. We identify potential issues before they come a problem.
